This retreat seeks to open a space in which participants can experience and work with ecstatic poetry as a spiritual practice. By utilizing practices such as meditation and yoga, time in nature, contemplation, and more, participants will be invited to share in the poetic styles inspired by early writers like Rumi and Hafez. Concepts will be introduced such as ecstatic theory and poetry practice, writing techniques, and creative expression, as we join together in a sacred circle.
Our weekend will take place at the Swinford House and Clear Creek Community Theater, set amid the backdrop of Clear Creek in Disputanta, Kentucky. Participants are invited to stay in the Swinford House itself, complete with all of the comfortable amenities of home, for an additional fee. Participants may also choose to camp on the grounds at no extra cost, or are welcome to stay in nearby Berea and commute each day to the farm. Price includes delicious meals, made exclusively with fresh, local, organic ingredients, prepared on-site by Chef Adam Burke.
Come and join us on Columbus Day weekend at the lovely homestead in Disputanta, wake up with the sun for Yoga, offered both mornings of the retreat, and give yourself the opportunity to unplug from the ambition of our busy world. We will be there to offer you a new tool for your meditations as well as facilitate, alongside the Clear Creek Community members, a quiet space and opportunity to consolidate your thoughts and energy.
